Lore: The Scarlet Onslaught
The Scarlet Crusade has always interested me, but its not until recently that the lore behind them has pulled me in. We all have had our share of SM runs for countless reasons. For me I have always loved running this instance for the soul fact of why they are in the Warcraft Universe.
Little by little I have found information regarding them in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, although they are moving to Northrend and renaming themselves The Scarlet Onslaught.
Pretty much every character I have (Alliance or Horde) has the Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade, so needless to say I was pretty happy to hear that my favorite organization was going to be in Northrend.
A while ago I got a glimpse of their new establishment called “New Hearthglen”, so my hopes were high that they would be infact a faction of some sort. I believe being able to obtain a tabard, rep and possibly a Scarlet mount would be ideal.
Now what was surprising to me, was that High General Abbendis will be leading New Hearthglen in an attempt to defeat The Lich King.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with High General Abbendis:
Of all the leaders of the Crusade, Abbendis is perhaps the most fervent. She hates undead with a fanatical loathing, and thinks nothing of sacrificing her troops in an effort to eradicate the walking dead. Abbendis is the daughter of the previous High General Abbendis, an older man who sought to destroy all undead. He passed that goal onto his daughter before he died at undead hands.DF 156, 157
Abbendis was one of the members of the Silver Hand that were present when then-Commander Alexandros Mograine revealed his plan to forge the weapon that would later become known as Ashbringer and participated in the act of cleansing the sword’s crystal. She seemed to accompany Tirion Fordring and Isillien at that meeting in Old Hillsbrad. She, her father High General Abbendis,LoC #? Grand Inquisitor Isillien, Saidan Dathrohan (Balnazzar),MG 152 Taelan Fordring,DF 155 and Highlord Mograine formed the Crusade.[2] Sometime later she was promoted to High General, after the death of her father.

Today I found out that The Scarlet Onslaught will actually be a hostile faction towards both the Horde & the Alliance. Sad news indeed as there will be a quest for her head. She will be a level 72 elite, so I assume it will require a group to kill her.
Either way, it will be good to see her and the Scarlet’s in action once again.
